Explore the West Mesa Trail in Rancho Cuyamaca State Park. We start off uphill on the West Mesa Fire Road and branch off on the Fern Flat Fire Road before reaching the West Mesa Trail and the wilderness boundary area. We will have spring flowers, ferns as well as expansive views of meadows, ravines and mountains. Elevation gain/loss is 1200 feet. Estimated time is 5 hours.Bring snack/ lunch, water, optional poles, sunscreen and sturdy hiking shoes. Meet at 9 AM at mile 7.3 on Hwy 79 about 1.1 miles north of Park Visitors Center at paved West Mesa Trailhead lot. Rain, forecast temperature over 80 degrees or red flag wind warning cancels.Please RSVP to Armin by text or email.Please Bring Your Medical FormSierra Club protocols for back country outings require you bring your completed medical form for the hike leader to access during the hike in case of emergency.
