Description:
Please join OUTdoors Idaho for a Pride Month Hike at Hillside to Hollows Reserve. We will also be having a picnic at Camel's Back Park after the hike, with free sandwiches and snacks provided by the Sierra Club!
Who is this outing for?
OUTdoors Idaho outings are explicitly queer-only spaces, and while we will NOT be policing anyone's identity, we ask that folks who attend these outings identify in some way with the LGBTQIA+ community (including questioning folks, closeted folks, asexual folks, etc. etc.!). We have created this as a queer-only space with the intention of creating a shared identity group in Idaho’s outdoors, where folks who don’t feel safe/comfortable in other social/hiking groups can join, feel connected, and build queer community in a non-heteronormative, non-cisnormative place. We ask that allies do NOT attend this outing to honor the queer-only space, so participants who want a queer-only space can feel more confident that they’re safe being themselves. However, we also host regular outings for BOTH allies and the queer community.
To read more about our reasoning behind this policy, check out this blog post!
What to expect:
10 am | Meet at the Harrison Hollow trailhead, pre-hike meeting to discuss safety and event info
10:15 am | Begin the hike!
11:45 am| Conclude the hikes and transition to Camel's Back Park for picnic
12:30-1 pm | Event concludes
Level: Easy/Moderate
More about difficulty, skill level, and safety
This outing is open to people of all experience levels and will be intentionally paced to support everyone in the group, including beginners and folks who need to take it slower. Our trip leaders will carry a full first aid kit along with extra water.
Harrison Hollow & Ridge Trail
The hike will be 2.2 miles total with 285 feet of elevation gain. The trail is mostly flat, but contains a short section transitioning up to the ridgeline that is at a 38% grade incline. The group will take a couple of breaks to drink water and enjoy the beautiful views!
Please reach out if you have any questions about the difficulty level of the route or what to expect!
