Valles Caldera South Mountain Hike

The South Mountain trail in Valles Caldera is lovely and very peaceful. We will walk from the 2nd (inner) visitors center, through a forested section, and up to a mountain meadow. This trail is 8 miles and 1200 ft elevation gain, ending up about 10,000 ft up. If you are wanting to enjoy life and increase your fitness at the same time, this hike might be for you!Please note that there is not much cell service on the way there/back. we can convoy. Also you will need to pay for parking or have a national park pass.

Bring at least 1.5 L of water, snacks, lunch.  Hiking boots, poles, hat, etc.
No dogs, no children under 13.

This is a small group hike in the back country.  Please complete & print the medical form (you do not have to turn it in)

Level:  Moderate/Strenuous
Location:  Valles Caldera (meet to carpool -- first we will meet @ the edge of the parking lot for home depot in Bernallio, the part closest to 550 and agree carpooling there.)  Please expect to contribute gas money to your driver.
