Hike Smith Creek, Mark Twain National Forest

The Smith Creek hike covers approximately 6.1 miles; moderately difficult with water crossings, rocky terrain, 200 foot elevation gain (in places 15-25% grade). Awesomely scenic with gargantuan cliffs, amazing geologic features, and a wilderness aura.

When: Sunday, June 14th,  1 -5 pm
(Please check web for updates before departure.  If there is a weather watch, the outing will be rescheduled).
Where: Smith Creek Loop Trail, Rutherford Bridge Trailhead.  OR we can meet at the MDC Regional Headquarters parking lot on 3500 E. Gans Rd.  at 12:30 pm.
(Note: The Sierra Club Liability Waiver can be signed at the trailhead)

What to Bring:  sturdy hiking boots, water, lunch or snacks, hiking stick (if desired).  Be prepared for variable conditions with raingear as the weather forecast dictates.
Long pants are recommended
Why:
To experience the beauty and health benefits of trails in the vicinity of Columbia, MO;  to be an advocate for our wild & scenic resources; to re-create with like-minded folks who love hiking in the Ozark Highlands.
