At this event we'll discover the critical role tree canopies play in creating comfortable living spaces as our climate changes. Hear from experts about how strategically planting trees in urban areas can reduce heat islands, improve air quality, and promote mental well-being, and understand your part in preserving and expanding these crucial green spaces.

Together we'll take a leisurely walk through the wetland with knowledgeable guides who will share fascinating facts about the local flora and fauna. We'll learn about the diverse habitats that make up this unique ecosystem and how wetlands contribute to clean air, water quality, and biodiversity.

Book Distribution & Author Meet-and-Greet: The first 50 people to RSVP will receive a free copy of "Smith & Bybee Wetlands: An Oasis Restored" upon attendance, which was written by esteemed community member and outdoor advocate Pamela Slaughter. Pamela is the Executive Director of People of Color Outdoors, a local outdoor group focused on helping people of color experience and enjoy outdoor spaces!

Free Tree Giveaway: The Urban Forestry's Yard Tree Giveaway program aims to provide 4,500 FREE TREES to Portlanders this fall, with a focus on neighborhoods with low tree canopy. Urban trees play a vital role in creating healthier, safer communities. Bringing trees to these areas that need them the most is one of the best ways to improve public and environmental health outcomes. Partner organizations were selected because they are connected to underserved communities and people living in their priority service areas. Partnerships help advance the Yard Tree Giveaway goal of increasing tree canopy where it is most needed.

You can help by choosing up to 3 trees to have planted in your community. These trees, carefully selected for their ability to thrive in our region, will help your community enjoy the benefits of tree canopies and the shade they provide. The best part is, the city would plant them for you!

Don't miss this incredible opportunity to connect with nature, learn from experts, and make a positive impact on your community's environment. Bring your family and friends for an outing filled with wonder, knowledge, and inspiration!

Let's work together to preserve our natural wonders and create a sustainable, equitable future for all.

Recommended Items: Shoes comfortable for a leisurely walk, a water bottle (bonus points if it's reusable) & snacks!

Cancellation Policy: Activity is held rain or shine, but may be altered due to inclement weather
