Are you interested in clean energy, hiking, or just want to spend a Saturday outdoors? Join us for an afternoon on the Appalachian Trail where we will take a 6-mile moderately easy hike together! This is a great opportunity to learn about some of the coolest solar developments in Western North Carolina and get a view of the town of Hot Springs solar array all while being out in nature.

Hot Springs is unique in that it's one of the few towns in Western North Carolina that has a solar microgrid that can power the entire community on its own. This level of energy independence has allowed it to reduce electricity rates, increase grid reliability, and mitigate harm from disasters such as Hurricane Helene two years ago.

Meeting Location: We will meet at the head of Lovers Leap trail just outside of Hot Springs. This trail is a shorter loop that connects to the AT. The address to the trail can be found here: 138 Silvermine Rd, Hot Springs, NC 28743.

We ask that all participants wear weather appropriate clothing, check the forecast for the day, and wear shoes comfortable for hiking! All participants must register through Campfire and sign our waiver in order to participate.
