Join us for a Lunch and Learn! Sierra Club Wisconsin has joined over 90 other organizations in efforts to protect Wisconsin’s 15,000 lakes from the damaging impacts of enhanced wake boat surfing. These serious impacts affect aquatic ecosystems, shorelines and human safety, and are well documented in peer-reviewed scientific studies.
However efforts to pass statewide and local ordinances protecting our lakes have been aggressively countered by the deep-pockets of the boating industry. They’ve proposed their own permissive legislation as well as directed lawsuits at small communities and lake organizations who have implemented local protections.
Fred Silloway of Wisconsin’s “Last Wilderness Alliance”, which organized protective efforts, will review this growing threat and present the latest evidence that demands we step up to protect our lakes, our recreational activities and public lake users.
