August 29-30 (Saturday-Sunday) Peter Grubb Hut Work Party: This weekend service trip will focus on repairing damage from last winter at the Sierra Club’s oldest backcountry ski hut in the Donner Summit/Lake Tahoe region. Enjoy optional Friday overnight and Saturday breakfast at the Club's Clair Tappaan Lodge at no cost. Then backpack overnight gear and supplies, construction tools and supplies, and swim suits and cameras 1-3 miles (depending on road conditions) to the hut just off the PCT in Round Valley. We’ll give the hut a thorough cleaning, repair the outhouse roof (damaged by a falling tree), and repair one of the hut doors. Food, tools, and supplies for the weekend are provided at no cost to volunteers. We’re looking especially for people with carpentry experience; but cleaning requires no special skills.
