October 3-4 (Saturday-Sunday) Peter Grubb Hut Work Party: This weekend service trip will focus on collecting firewood and maintaining the Sierra Club’s oldest backcountry ski hut in the Donner Pass/Lake Tahoe region for winter 2026-27. Enjoy optional Friday overnight and Saturday breakfast at the Club's Clair Tappaan Lodge at no cost. Then backpack overnight gear, supplies, and tools 1-3 miles (depending on road conditions) to the hut just off the PCT in Round Valley. We’ll buck, split, and stack the wood, perform repairs and maintenance activities, and clean the hut. Basic tools and supplies are provided at no cost to volunteers. We’re looking especially for people with chainsaws, proper skills, and personal protection equipment to perform this work; but cleaning requires no special skills.
