This is a beautiful and relatively flat out-and-back hike along Big Laurel Creek in Marshall, near Hot Springs. The hike follows along the river for 3.7 miles to the confluence with the French Broad River and intersection with the train tracks (roundtrip total 7.4 mile hike) where we will stop and have snacks and then turn back. There is a minimal change in elevation (around 300 feet) and it has some very rocky terrain for some extended sections, which can be slippery depending on recent rain fall. The hike time will be approximately 4.5 to 5 hours.

Signup Instructions: Register through the Sierra Club Campfire Event.

Recommended Items: Water, Snacks, Sturdy Shoes/Boots, Layers, Hat, Hiking Poles (highly recommended)

Signup Restrictions: Open to all ages. Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. Dogs are permitted but must remain on leash and be well-behaved. If you are feeling unwell or have a fever, please do not attend.
