Join Sierra Club Connecticut for a webinar discussing the five methane gas compressor stations located throughout Connecticut in Brookfield, Oxford, Milford, Cromwell, and Chaplin, several of which are at threat of expansion.

This webinar will include information on what compressor stations are, their role in the pipeline network of the Northeast, and their impacts on health and climate change. We will also discuss compressor station accidents in Connecticut, including the excess release of volatile organic compounds in Cromwell for almost a decade, and a recent "blowdown" at the Oxford station, which woke residents from their sleep and people described sounding like a jet engine taking off for close to an hour.

The webinar will include an opportunity for questions and to take action.



Description: The Enbridge-owned pipeline that runs throughout Connecticut, which four of the five compressor stations are on. The pipeline is named Algonquin, which is an appropriated native word. Enbridge has a poor history of violating tribal sovereignty, in addition to their poor environmental record.
