Join the Sierra Club Pasadena Group for a presentation on Coyote Awareness. Coyote's have always been part of our local landscape, but their population is increasing. Find out why with science writer, Jane Brackman, when she presents new research about urban coyotes, including what they eat, where they den, how they communicate and what you can do to stay safe. Jane has lived in Altadena for 42 years, been active as a volunteer with the Altadena Historical Society, as well as Caltech. As a citizen scientist, Jane has been involved with coyote diet research in Southern California, coyote, bobcat and mountain lion genetic studies in the Santa Monica Mountains, and the wolf reintroduction project in Yellowstone National Park. Her career journey has been varied, but most of her work has to do with dogs, both wild and domestic. She worked with blind people and guide dogs for 20 years, and then went on to be a science writer, in particular focusing on canine genetics, disease, and domestication. Jane has a PhD from Claremont Graduate University in linguistics and material culture.
