Our Water, Our Future, Our Voice

Save the Date: October 10 at 2 PM

What’s really in the water coming from our taps and wells? How much stress is the Floridan Aquifer under? And who makes the decisions that determine how much water is pumped, where development occurs, and how our springs, rivers, and wetlands are protected?

Save the date now: Saturday, October 10 at 2 PM for the North Central Florida Water Summit 2026, presented by the Sierra Club Suwannee-St. Johns Group in Alachua.

North Central Florida is facing growing pressure from drought, development, wastewater challenges, pollution, and new water-intensive industries. At the same time, changes in federal wetland protections are placing even greater importance on state and local decisions.

The Summit will bring together some of Florida’s leading water scientists, policy experts, and clean-water advocates to give residents clear, reliable information about the challenges facing our water—and how we can respond.

Come learn:

  • What may be affecting our drinking water and private wells

  • How drought, pumping, and growth are stressing the Floridan Aquifer

  • Why protecting springs, wetlands, and recharge areas matters

  • Who makes the decisions that control our water

  • How residents can advocate effectively for clean, safe, affordable water

This is more than a day of presentations. It is an opportunity to ask questions, meet regional water-protection organizations, and leave with practical tools to make your voice heard.

Our Water. Our Future. Our Voice.
