Join us in walking through one of the most diverse wetlands on the east coast. The Green Swamp is a longleaf pine savannah that is managed by fire which creates openness and plant diversity. We will be joined by Page Turner with the NC Wildlife Federation who knows the plants. Many enjoy this hike in the spring for the carnivorous plants but the fall is also a spectacular wealth of other plants and colors. Some of the plants we hope to see include: varieties of lady tresses, blazing star, deer’s tongue, slender rattlesnake root and fall grasses.
