75 Years of Making History in California’s Central Valley
Join Sierra Club California and the Kern-Kaweah Chapter for a special virtual event celebrating nearly 75 years of conservation leadership in one of California’s most consequential regions.
From helping protect the southern Sierra Nevada to standing up for clean air, healthy rivers, public lands, and communities in the heart of California’s oil country, the Kern-Kaweah Chapter has helped shape environmental victories with impacts far beyond the Central Valley. The chapter’s work today includes oil and gas, water, forests, land use and development, air quality, and other major environmental challenges facing the region.
During this virtual program, you’ll:
- Hear stories from the chapter’s history and landmark victories.
- Learn about the environmental challenges facing Kern, Tulare, and the surrounding region today.
- Meet the people leading this work.
- Hear how local advocacy in Kern-Kaweah strengthens environmental efforts across California.
- Learn ways to get involved and help sustain the chapter’s work for the next generation.
The event is designed to build relationships with people who want to support and strengthen the chapter, with opportunities to contribute and stay involved shared during and after the program.
