We will contend with the fact that wildfires are inevitable, but community destruction by wildfire is not. We will come to understand the specific conditions that result in community destruction. With that understanding, we can begin to do the effective and necessary work to mitigate risk and prepare communities to withstand the threat of wildfire.Mike and Olivia Background: Mike Stohlgren and Olivia Anderson - aka MO - are wildfire mitigation practitioners dedicated to the work of community wildfire risk reduction. They believe that with science-guided, forward-looking efforts, future wildfire disasters can be prevented.Mike holds a masters degree in Environmental Management and has developed two multi-scale wildfire risk assessment tools focused on parcel and community risk. Olivia is a NFPA Certified Wildfire Mitigation Specialist and former Defensible Space Specialist with the Truckee Fire Protection District; she holds a certificate in Permaculture Landscape Design Program through Oregon State University.
