We will be hiking the Elfin forest to the Escondido Overlook. At the Escondido Overlook, we'll take a break, have a snack and drink and discuss water conservation on the shore of Olivenhain Reservoir. 

This is an approximately 4-mile loop. Two miles out and two miles back. The trail is well maintained and there is about a 1000 ft elevation gain. This is considered a moderate hike. 

You should be prepared with your ten essentials; however, spend extra time ensuring you have plenty of water, sunscreen and protective clothing and a sun hat. Its easy to get sun burned or over heated on this trail and we want to make sure everybody has a safe and fun experience.

About your leader: I'm an active member of the Sierra Club and staff volunteer for the Wilderness Backpacking Class. I'm a certified Wilderness First Responder and experienced hiker and backpacker.
