As a Sedgwick County resident, sign on to say YES to solar siting in our county!
Solar projects fund county needs, like roads, bridges, emergency services, and local schools.
Solar is the cheapest form of energy to build and makes the grid more reliable, ensuring that the lights stay on if another power source fails.
Solar and storage projects like this one supplement farm income, which can help ensure the economic survival of traditional farms and ranches, and can prevent farmers from having to sell off more of their land. The farmers and landowners involved should have the freedom to decide how they use their property, including the choice to lease their land for solar and storage.
Solar and energy storage are safe, clean, and built with public health in mind. They are low-impact neighbors, that can be built to blend in with the local environment using native plantings, vegetative buffers, and pollinator habitat, encouraging biodiversity and letting the land rest. Both solar and energy storage also use little to no water to operate, produce no water pollution, and safeguard our precious water resources, making them a natural fit for our rural landscape.
Our county has done its due diligence on solar and storage. By passing a rigorous ordinance, Sedgwick County has set the rules of the road, ensuring this project will be developed in a responsible way that benefits our community.
