Join us for a short casual hike on Saturday, July 26 at 9:00 AM at the Belding Wildlife Preserve in Vernon, CT to practice using the iNaturalist app in the field with guidance and Q&A while we find species to identify. The hike will be led by Stephen Lewis, Chair of the Sierra Club Greater Hartford Group, founder of the South Windsor Pollinator Pathway, and an avid iNaturalist user.
Parking is at the Belden Wildflower Meadow which is on Bread and Milk Road, Vernon. We will meet at the pavilion.
This hike is a follow up to the
July 23 Introduction to Using iNaturalist webinar which will provide an overview of how to get up and running with the free iNaturalist app on your phone, and learn what it is and does, and can do for you, and how you can become more knowledgeable about the plants, animals and insects you see while providing help to wildlife conservation.
Bring water, a hat, insect repellent if you use it, long lightweight pants recommended. Grassy areas have ticks, so we recommend a thorough tick check after the walk. Have the iNaturalist app preloaded on your phone. Please direct any questions in advance to Stephen Lewis swlewis276@gmail.com
In the event of steady rain, we may postpone this event to Sunday, July 27th at 9:00 AM, if necessary. We will contact registrants via email with any change to the date.
