Come experience Lyonia Preserve in a different light! The night of Saturday, August 28 we will be taking a naturalist-led hike along the trails of Lyonia Preserve. We will begin our hike at dusk, and walk out to the highest point on the preserve to watch the full moon rise. 

This property a joint project of Volusia County, the Volusia County School Board and the State of Florida to provide environmental education to the public and restore and maintain habitat for scrub-dependent species, including the threatened scrub jay and gopher tortoise. The preserve, named after the scrub plant rusty lyonia, consists of 360 acres of restored Florida scrub habitat.

Be sure to bring your headlamp with a red-light setting to allow your eyes adjust to your surroundings.
